Entrepreneurship is something we can all learn from. You may be running a business (or not), perhaps you’re considering becoming a solopreneur, self-employed, or freelancer. With the recent COVID-19 lockdown (at the time of writing this blog post), we can all learn from entrepreneurs, whatever we do in life, for the better!
As a self-improvement blogger, I’m pleased to dedicate this post to successful entrepreneurship traits, characteristics, and qualities. This is an evergreen post, and these tips will remain helpful at all times, even after the lockdown.
Here are 10 of them:
1. Early riser
Research honors having a morning routine as a part of the daily habits of successful people. I’m always honing mine, working on my goals, and journaling about it to help me improve all the time. Do you have a morning routine? How does it support you?
2. Motivation
Motivation is the key to achievement and success. Whatever you choose as a goal, remaining motivated and working all the way, contributes much to your final results. Those who take up challenges and stay focused are way better off than those who have short-lived interests.
Entrepreneurs teach us a lot in the sense that those who run successful businesses know how to stay on track with what they endeavour.
3. Self-confidence
Meeting people at networking events, giving presentations, pitching products, and so on, help build self-confidence. This is true for any field you may be in. However, being an entrepreneur puts people in situations where they’re more likely to break the ice when meeting new people, build new contacts, make efforts by going out of their comfort zone. You benefit from developing such skills, whatever you do in life.
4. Perseverance
Persistence is probably one of the top qualities of successful entrepreneurs. It has often been said that what makes the difference between the gold medalist and the others is the fact that the winner persevered while all the others lost hope.
“Winners never quit and quitters never win.” – Vince Lombardi
I’m a strong proponent of this trait. I also believe that if it’s not an inborn quality, then we can all reflect, learn, and develop this approach to life.
5. Risk-taker
Business involves risk-taking, financially and in other ways. Entrepreneurs are used to being resilient, or become so, with experience. When we learn from this, we can all gain by applying it to different spheres of life.
6. Don’t procrastinate
Procrastination is the enemy of success. Top performers know this and have learnt to fight against it. While eliminating time-wasters is important, putting off what you should be doing for later, later, and later… isn’t productive.
7. Ongoing learner
Learning should be a life-long, even an ongoing process. Many entrepreneurs don’t have a business degree, or even, not much formal education. Yet, they learn in other ways. Success comes to them because they always improve and grow personally. Learning from past failure is a great life lesson.
Through lifelong learning and practice, you can stay updated about developments in your industry, build relevant skills, and so much more.
8. Team leader
Leaders can be formal or informal. As a business leader, the entrepreneur leads his or her team. Solopreneurs often work on their own, but would probably outsource certain tasks, at some point. When growing their client base, they would need a support team. To be successful, being a respected team leader is key.
When your employees or team members look up to you, they’re more likely to work wholeheartedly. You may or may not be an entrepreneur, but good leadership skills will assist you in diverse ways. Make the most of it by developing such traits.
9. Mentor
In addition to being a team leader, some go further by becoming a mentor. One could say, why would a busy businessman or businesswoman want to waste time mentoring their staff? However, those who have empathy, know the importance of keeping their team members motivated. They also know that people need to grow personally, feel valued and respected. In the end, the whole team will benefit (so will the business).
10. Self-care
While successful entrepreneurs often bear much stress, they also recognize the importance of self-care. Self-love isn’t a luxury, neither an option nor is it selfish. They need to take care of themselves so that they remain in shape.
Learning to say ‘no’ when you have to is good because you need rest to unwind and recharge. Spend time with close ones to strengthen bonds, meditate, exercise, have good nutrition, and more. Such activities are likely to have an indirect positive impact on your work while being essential for wellness and well-being.
Find the entrepreneurship qualities that you value the most, embrace and make them your daily habits.
Conclusion
To sum up, entrepreneurial experiences forge great qualities that we should all learn, develop, and adopt. Which of the traits I mentioned in my article do you admire the most? If you found my blog post helpful, please comment and share. Thank you!!
